2018 Mazda CX-5: Checking Back In With One Of Our Favorite Crossovers
Просмотров 4,5 тыс.6 лет назад
Last year we checked out the refreshed 2017 CX-5 and had high praised for the refinements Mazda made to the sound-deadening and ride-quality. It really lends an overall experience that feels up a class from the price point. When the CX-5 came out in 2013, it really was a hit for Mazda. An affordable crossover that looked great, got good mileage and was comfortable. It had lots of tech for it’s ...
2018 Volvo S90: Now With Even More Legroom

The move shows just how aggressive Volvo is being with their offerings, not even willing to rest on their laurels for more than a year. We loved the first-year 2017 S90 and awarded it with our Sedan of the Year trophy. Sometimes, when you come back to a car after a year passes, it doesn’t quite stand up. In this case, it feels even better with the passing of time. And with some big changes, the...
2018 Ford F-150 V8 Platinum: More Proof That V8’s Make Everything Better

We love the new generation of F-150’s so much that it was our 2017 pick for the truck of the year. We’ve tried many different versions, from the basic V6-Turbo EcoBoost to the fire-breathing off-road monster Raptor with 450-HP. Even the Raptor now comes with an enhanced version of the new EcoBoost 6-cylinder, a variant of which powers the flagship Ford GT sports car. But what happens when you p...
2018 Lexus LC 500h: Fuel Efficiency Over Passion
Просмотров 7 тыс.6 лет назад
The Lexus LC 500 has been a bit of a revelation to us. While many of the performance-based Lexus vehicles of late have felt like they fell short of the mark, the LC 500 moved the goal posts. With interior fit and finish that feels more Ferrari than Toyota, and swooping exterior lines that scream excitement, the top of the line Lexus impresses on all counts. Last year we tested the 471-horsepowe...

There’s an old hot-rod car culture adage, “there’s no replacement for displacement.” The Dodge Durango is one of the most mundane, boring, average and unremarkable SUV’s on the market and it’s one of our least favorite in the segment. So what happens when you replace the boring V6 with a snarling 5.7-liter V8? Well, it goes from zero to hero, that’s what happens! Rated at a modest 360hp, the te...
2018 Beetle 2.0T Dune: More Power But Still No AWD
Просмотров 17 тыс.6 лет назад
Last year when we reviewed a very similar looking Beetle Dune, we loved the funky and retro aesthetic but lamented a lack of power and traction. The 1.8-Turbo engine was peppy enough, and the car drove well - as you would expect given the platform sharing with t...

In the summer of 1980, at age of 17, I raced my 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner at Great Lakes, and my buddy Brad raced his 1969 440 Dodge SuperBee. We ran low 13's mostly, both of us had 4 speed cars, it was more fun than serious. Broadway Bob was a riot, always had a beer in his hand. Brought us free Pepsi's in the pit when it was about 110 degrees one Saturday in July. Thanks for the memories, Rock on Broadway Bob, RIP

Here's the things you are missing. This isn't a sports car and it isn't meant to be driven by somebody horsing around thinking he's a race car driver. This car does EVERYTHING WELL for driving on the public roads by people who have no desire to get into an accident or injure anyone by being stupid. Racing is done on racetracks. If you want to go racing, buy a race car and go as fast as you like. As for "Aston-Martin", that's an insult to this car. Owning an LC500 is all about making it past the repair shop and driving trouble free for a very long time. Those "other" cars may be faster, but you will pay big bucks because they are unreliable. So, why not be a grown up and discuss the facts that I've laid out? As for the trackpad, only dunderheads who haven't read the OWNER'S MANUAL complain about them because those of us who have read the OWNER'S MANUAL use VOICE COMMAND. In my almost five years of owning my InfraRed/Toasted Caramel 2018, I've used the trackpad at most ten times. Why would you even want to use it when talking is so much easier...AND SAFER? If I want to warm my seat I press a button and say "SHOW THE FRONT SEAT HEATER SCREEN". No muss. No fuss. I can call my wife, text a client, find a pizza joint I Iike, get directions to anywhere, change the radio station, listen to any song by any artist, make the car warmer or cooler and so much more...all without taking my eyes off the road. But then again, I read the OWNER'S MANUAL like an adult. The LC 500 is the closest thing to a PERFECT CAR for the public roads in production today. For idiot wannabe race car drivers who don't give a crap if they lose control and crash into some family of four going to visit grandma, there are faster cars. I would hope your next review is a bit more professional than this one. Read the OWNER'S MANUAL and tell your audience about the unique features of the car because only kids are interested in how many milliseconds it takes to shift from third to fourth gear. The LC 500 is loaded with more performance than anyone needs and it will never leave you stranded in the rain at 2 a.m. by the side of the road because some cheaply made electronic relay broke. It is without a doubt the finest GT car in production today.

I took this car thru the worst snowstorm here in Washington state within the last 5 years , and this car proved itself as a serious contender in the snow . I was plowing snow with the front bumper and never once did I even worry about getting stuck . The all wheel lock setting allowed Me to traverse through the worst of conditions. I have also owned a Subaru and a Audi both with awd and the lancer proved that it was worthy to be talked about in the same sense as it’s more expensive, more proven counterparts

I'm coming off of a 2010 Ford Escape 4 banger, so this should be an upgrade in almost every way. I'll pay attention to the handling as you've pointed out. I use my MG ZS EVs for multiple short trips even on short highway trips, only to find out that EVs are actually very good for short commutes with short to mid trips on motorways.

    • @oreally8605

@@Dano-MX5Sorry for the late reply. The oil consumption issues were from 2008-2011 from 2012-2015 they were fine. Toyota had a recall for the 08-11 but it's an older car now. Toyota America may or may not fix the issue. The piston rings were made too small so it seeped oil every 1000 miles. Most people just add a quart of oil every 1000 miles if you want to put up with it. I'd say get a 2012 and up, and check ✔️ the Vin to be double sure.

The Lounge model is a better choice. The glass roof is awesome. And the headlights have the automatic option. The wheels on the Lounge option are sportier. I have placed the driving mode in sport and have driven the car like I stole it. I find that it accelerates easily. I am at 190k on mine and I have replaced coil packs and brakes(rotors and pads). I also installed led headlight bulbs. The led light are less expensive than the conventional filament light bulbs and they last for a lengthy period of time. My tire choice are the Good Year Assurance tires. I typically get two winters out of them. Just keep in mind that I am averaging 38k per year, so I prefer to use an 80k tire. The interior just makes sense. My seats have the lumbar support. I have driven from Pennsylvania to Florida without feeling driver fatigue.
